The American Bison has always held a special place in the history of North America, and now it has been elevated to the highest status: that of an officially recognized symbol of the United States. On May 9, President Barack Obama signed the National Bison Legacy Act into law, naming the bison the national mammal of the US.

“This is an exciting day here at Continental,” says President and CEO Jay Bachmann. “The bison is more than just a logo to us. With our sponsorship of the American Bison exhibit at the Smithsonian’s National Zoo, we are proud to participate in the Zoo’s efforts to promote conservation of this steadfast North American icon.”

Since Continental’s inception in 2013, the bison has become an integral part of our company’s culture. Continental’s drywall is known by its trademark name “Bison Board,” and each year, employees celebrate National Bison Day (the first Saturday in November) with special events and the announcement of our annual BISON Values award winners.
